Stoneybrook Clubhouse
Rumors are True!
The Stoneybrook community is awash with gossip. Rumors about the golf course and clubhouse being sold have been shared since last spring, along with sightings of Jack Nicklaus, so and so’s neighbor, and many more. Several of us are still wondering about what is true and what is fiction. The truth is that there are new owners who took over both the golf course and the clubhouse on October 1st.
Owners Mark and Cindy Pentecost live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and are also new owners of a home in River Strand. Their new manager of the facilities is Chris Brandt (shown in picture), a Sarasota local, who also owns Redwire Sports, a golf course management and consulting company.
Last spring the Pentecosts contacted Chris and inquired about area golf courses, with an interest in eventually purchasing a course. Chris showed them several courses to give a broad base of understanding of availability and costs. When he discovered Stoneybrook was available, Chris sent them a text message to let them know that Stoneybrook was for sale. Mark Pentecost took the text message and was amazed! The day before he had closed on a house in River Strand! It seemed to be a perfect match!
Negotiations were made and the sale was complete. The Pentecosts also own an international business out of Michigan called It Works. They describe it as a business of helping people look and feel better. Chris has been hired to run their new business here, along with Zach Hess, the new public relations manager.
The biggest noticeable change that has been made in the Stoneybrook Clubhouse is the new 55 inch televisions that have been added to the lounge area. Golfers can now check on the latest sports happenings after finishing their rounds of golf, while they relax and have lunch. Future plans are the possible addition of a patio on the back of the building for golfers and outside dining. The great $5.00 daily lunch specials are still available. Other changes will not be happening with haste. The Pentecosts have many ideas of things that can be changed, but are going slowly and looking for what customers want. They have had many discussion meetings and plan to hold some type of meeting to meet the residents in the near future.
They are really interested in what has gone well here and building from there. They are being cautious not to make changes that area residents do not want. All key staff members, other than Chris Brandt and Zach Hess, are still in place, working hard to make the transition run smoothly. Saturday, November 6th is the annual Heritage Harbour Fashion Show at the Stoneybrook Clubhouse. The show is sold out, as it is every year. It will be the first big Stoneybrook function under new ownership. Be sure to watch for announcements of future activities and events at the clubhouse and on the golf course. Let’s plan to support the Pentecosts and help to make Stoneybrook be THE desired course in the area! Stop in and introduce yourself soon.
