The Landing

As the economic crisis begins to subside; LNR, the developer of the 100 plus acres of undeveloped commercial land in Heritage Harbour (at the intersection of I-75 and State Road 64) believes now is the time to begin preliminary work on this site.  The planned development for this area will be known as “The Landing.”

Mike Campbell, project manager of LNR’s development, held a town hall meeting May 27, 2010 with interested Heritage Harbour residents.  Well over a 100 locals attended  Mike’s presentation.  His presentation lasted about 20 minutes and was followed by an hour long question and answer session.  Many of our long time residents recognized Mike from his Lennar years and as a former neighbor.

It is LNR’s intention to build a high quality commercial development not dissimilar to the Super Target development at University and I-75.  Instead of being one long linear strip, ours will be broken in half with both halves generally facing each other.   LNR did not build the Super Target complex but indicated it represented the quality and mix of clients they wanted.  Mike went on to indicate that he would like the complex to include several quality restaurants along with top tier anchor stores.

No stores have yet to commit to The Landing but LNR is actively marketing the project.  The earliest possible store openings would be early 2013.

Audience questions were both thoughtful and respectful.  Concerns ranged from dust, lighting, store mix and traffic though traffic was the greatest concern and discussed at great length. The Landing will have three entrances (two on Grand Harbour Parkway and one on Light House Dr).  The entrances already exist but currently dead end into the development area.  Light House Dr is the road between Lighthouse Cove condominiums and single family homes.  Mike agreed to furnish the community with more information on traffic flows and counts.

As the project progresses Mike has agreed to keep us informed.
