Earth Day

Heritage Harbour celebrated its first Earth Day on Saturday morning with a little of something for everyone.  Participants  lingered over informational exhibits at the Rec Center, took a guided walking tour of a local ecosystem and donned rubber gloves and bug spray to help pick up trash around our most littered areas.

So how do we measure the success of this project?  The bags of trash piled in the parking lot?  The Heritage Harbour Brownie troop that earned merit points for lending a hand in the pick up?  The fact that we now know a little bit more about the amazing area we live in?  Or, the general spirit of those who just wanted to lend a hand and make this place a little nicer?  However you want to look at it, it was a rewarding thing to do with your neighbors on a fine day in Heritage Harbour.

Special thanks go out to the people who made it happen:  Larry Eichert’s Power Point presentation on the different ecosystems here in Heritage Harbour and his knowledgeable backyard tour of mother nature; Barb and Gene Aulenbach for leading the clean up crews and overall coordination of the event; the Martinetti’s for supplying the banners promoting the celebration and for Stacey Bargar who rounded up the freebies in the Rec Center, took care of logistics and really got behind the idea when it was first proposed.   Thanks to all who participated for a truly successful project.
